Abbe’s number is reference for the degree of dispersion of transparent films or sheets. Abbe’s number is calculated from refractive indexes of C, D and F lines.
Materials having high refractive index and high Abbe’s number are preferable for optical use.

Abbe’s number=(nD-1)/(nF-nC

nC:Refractive index for C- line (656nm)
nD:Refractive index for D- line (589nm)
nF:Refractive index for F- line (486nm)
