Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC) Electrolyte Membrane Elution Test

It is possible to conduct an elution test for a trace amount of metal ions by performing an elution test on the fluorine-based electrolyte membrane that is used in polymer electrolyte fuel cells.

Example of analysis

【Elution conditions】
Elution liquid: 30% hydrogen peroxide water
Temp., time: 80℃, 1 week

【Analysis method】
Eluted metals: Inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS method)
Eluted ions: Ion chromatography (IC method)

Results of analysis of eluted impurity metal elements

Results of analysis of eluted ions

Unit: μg/cm2
<2.5 <2.5
  • It is possible to determine eluted metals at the level of 0.5ng/cm2 and eluted ions at the level of 2.5μg/cm2.
  • It is possible to change the elution liquid, temperature, and other conditions according to the purpose.

* It is possible that the lower determination limit will vary according to the the amount of the elution liquid, the area of the specimen, etc.
