Summary

The properties of synthetic polymer are significantly affected by its terminal structure. Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) equipment is a device capable of analyzing the terminal structure. An analysis of the lowmolecular weight components directly or indirectly extracted makes it possible to obtain information on the terminal and study a correlation with the physical properties.

Cz: Nylon 66 having both terminals being adipic acid

The structure of 3 types of nylon having different terminal structures was estimated by analyzing the m/z value of the peaks detected.
